Visit to Poland October 2022

To share your generous donations among the Ukrainian refugees

Total raised was £3070. £1400 from the table tennis tournament held in September and £1670 from 3 of my clients from Oxshott, who would like to remain anonymous. Once again, I’d like to express how grateful I am for all your generous support.

Also, a huge thank you to Bribar Table Tennis, who donated table tennis equipment for the

winners and again to Gabriel Wroblewski who runs the Polish shop in Surbiton, for the delicious rolls with ham and cheese, enjoyed by the competitors. Thank you also to Table Tennis England and Paul Stimpson for publishing an article and details of the tournament on its website.

This time we had help to plan and organise, from Karina who is based in Poland. Karina cares deeply about the refugees in Poland and provides help to them on a daily basis in the town of Katowice.

Our support this time was focussed on two families: Natalia (Julia's mother), Julia (Natalia’s daughter), Liza (Julia's daughter), Ljuba (Natalia’s sister). They had rented a 1bed flat and Liza started at a local school nearby. All the adults have found work and will start soon, so able to manage their expenses. To help get them started we paid their first two month’s rent approx. £600

Olga with son Jarik just started work in a nursery and her son needs special assistance, so

ideally a studio flat would be best for them. She doesn’t have any savings yet therefore unable to manage the rent. We decided to pay her deposit, estate agent fees and two months’ rent to help her get started. Her sponsor was one of my clients from Oxshott and for all the above mentioned we spent approx. £1000

The remainder of the money raised was spent on 20 boxes of stationery for Ukrainian little

ones, 14 in school age and 6 in nursery age.

Overall, this visit was very successful, a big thank you to everyone, Karina in Poland, Maciek and Julia who helped translate, Piotr Burzawa who maintains this website free of charge, Yong who donated a guitar and sent brand new strings to Julia and her daughter who always dreamt about having a guitar.
