Following the success of our first tournament, we ran another one specifically aimed to raise
money for 2 Ukrainian families, who fled to Poland to escape the war in the Ukraine.
Competitors enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and competitive nature of the tournament
held at Graham Spicer’s Table Tennis Club in New Malden, raising £1400. Thanks go to
everyone who took part and contributed to its success, Bribar Table Tennis who donated
prizes and ttheart.co.uk for all the food on the day.
Group Stage
Group 1 - Radoslav Kamberov reigned supreme dropping just the 1 set in 6 matches. Daniel
Heo won a surprise victory over Jarek Chrzanowski. Group 2 - Evgeni Genchev won all his
matches. Group 3 – Winner was Stuart Vincent and an excellent win for Carmen Vajdi to
beat Vitaly Savenkov. Group 4 - Yong Lee was the winner beating all before him, and an
excellent result for Chris Andrews to beat Yongsuk Choi.
Knockout Stage
With Radoslav having to leave early the tournament was wide open. The semi-finals saw Tim
Waller beat Tony Needham and Jarek Chrzanowski beat Evgeni Genchev. In the final, Jarek
reversed his loss to Tim in the group stages to win 3-0.
Special thanks to Kumiko Williams for running the tournament, Yong Lee and Yongsuk Choi
for organising the food and drink, and the Graham Spicer Institute for providing the venue. https://www.flickr.com/photos/195082905@N06/albums/72177720303291050?fbclid=IwAR1x6GPx2N0EaBv3Hl5Hds0IbCpCMroyuYQ_JzIcbFOp-DpGgbp7usSI0AI
