Table Tennis helping the Ukrainian Refugees by Chris Andrews
A Fabulous day was had at Graham Spicer’s in New Malden on Saturday 23rd April in aid of Table Tennis for Ukraine. £3000 has been raised so far and that doesn’t include the items to be auctioned.
People came from as far as Bristol. Thanks goes to all the entrants and all the people who donated. As well as Tees Sport and Bribar for donating the vouchers for the winners, ttheart.co.uk for donating 2 shirts and all the food, Table Tennis England for donating a Centenary Book to be auctioned and Charles Ho, Tin-Tin Ho’s father for donating 2 private coaching sessions of 2 hours each to be auctioned.
Vadzim Antonau won the tournament with the Runner-up being Ollie Maric-Murray. In the semi-finals Vadzim beat Jarek Chrzanowski 3-1 and Ollie beat Dave Tiplady 3-1. Jarek won the 3rd place play-off.
The Consolation event was won by Enhno Oh who played Ujwal Walk in the final which ended 14-12 in the fifth set. Dave Rowell came 3rd.
My special thanks goes to everyone that helped with arrangements and donations including:
All the players and others who donated either unable to play or not involved with table tennis
Everyone that bid in the auction and who donated goods and toys
Graham Spicer Institute for allowing the tournament to take place free of fees
Table Tennis England for donating a commemorative book for the auction
Charles Ho for donating two coaching sessions for the auction
"Poli Deli" grocery store and Gabriel Wroblewski who supplied the delicious rolls
Kumiko Williams for running the tournament along with all her helpers.
The ttheart squad: Kumiko Williams, Patrick Caunt, Jonathan Chernett, Yong Lee and Chris Andrews
Yong Lee who organised the refreshments and a water boiler, which he donated to the Graham Spicer Table Tennis Club
Jane Barella who helped to find players and organise gift vouchers from Bribar
Phil McCallum from Teesport who donated 6 x vouchers for our winners
Thanks all! Well done!
